From Saturday 3 October 2026 to Sunday 10 January 2027 Arezzo dedicates to Saint Francis an exhibition spanning seven centuries of art: “L’immagine di Francesco. Dal Medioevo al Novecento” (The Image of Francis, from the Middle Ages to the 20th century), curated by Cristina Acidini with a scientific committee chaired by Carlo Sisi and organised by the Fondazione Guido d’Arezzo. Around 60 works, including paintings, miniatures, sculptures and stained glass, show how the saint has been portrayed from Giotto to Gerardo Dottori, by way of Botticelli, Vasari and Guercino.

The exhibition is in two venues, both in the old town and a few minutes apart:

Hours: Monday, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday 11 am–7 pm; Saturday and Sunday 10 am–8 pm; closed on Tuesdays.

Getting there from ASC Hotel
Piazza San Francesco is in the heart of the old town, a 15-minute walk from the hotel or 8 minutes by bike with our rental bikes. If you come by car, leave it in the hotel car park, included and with no time limits, and avoid the old town’s traffic restrictions and paid parking. On the same square stands the Basilica of San Francesco with Piero della Francesca’s Legend of the True Cross: the two visits go well together.
An autumn weekend in Arezzo
The exhibition covers the best months to visit Arezzo without crowds: the antiques fair on the first Sunday of the month, the hills in autumn and, from late November, Arezzo Città del Natale. The 45 m² duplex rooms and the Family Flat with kitchen are the base for two or three nights in town; breakfast is included.
