Arezzo has a traffic-free old town and few car parks inside the walls. If you arrive by car you need to know three things: where the ZTL is, where to park for free and how to get up into the centre.
The ZTL
The old town inside the walls is a limited traffic zone for most of the day. Cameras sit at the main entrances and the fine arrives by post. Hotels in the centre can register guests’ plates, but only for driving to their garage.
Paid car parks near the centre
The Pietri and Eden car parks are the most used: from both you reach the centre by escalator in a few minutes. The Baldaccio car park, near the station, is convenient if you arrive from the south.
Free parking
Free areas are outside the walls: the stadium and sports hall area, via Tarlati and some streets in Saione. On the first Saturday and Sunday of the month, with the antiques fair, they fill up early.
