Behind every place there is an idea of how to live it. For ASC Hotel the idea is that hospitality and sport are not just services but occasions to create relationships and new connections with the city. That is where “Passa l’Acqua – a chi viene dopo” (“pass the water on, to those who come next”) was born: a 24-hour swimming relay, from 10 am on Saturday 12 September to 10 am on Sunday 13 September 2026, in the hotel’s 25-metre pool, designed to close the summer season by doing some good.
How it worked
The pool stayed open for a full day without interruption, with 10-minute slots anyone could book: members, hotel guests, friends, families, athletes. For every 50 metres swum, sponsor Lapi Chimici, an Arezzo water-treatment company celebrating its 75th anniversary, donated 1 euro. The proceeds went half to CALCIT Arezzo, the local committee for the fight against cancer, and half to All Stars Arezzo Onlus, the sports association for people with intellectual disabilities founded in 2002 at the Istituto Agazzi.
Swimmers were given a hotel room for the duration of their slot, making them guests of the property in every sense. Each participant received a numbered event bracelet, 500 in total, not for sale.
More than swimming
A full day’s programme grew around the pool: on Saturday evening a poolside reading and an aperitif, with takeaway dinner; on Sunday, yoga at dawn followed by a wellness brunch before the 10 am close. All proceeds from the side events went to charity.
Why “to those who come next”
The name says the intention: an event that does not just close a season but leaves something for those who come after, in the city and in the two associations receiving the funds. It is how ASC Hotel sees its role in Arezzo: a living, open sports venue that becomes a place to meet, not only to stay.
